50mW green laser pointer- so many usages in one item

The truth is that a 50mW green laser pointer is not so much different from the lasers having other color of the beam. Perhaps, the reason why it is preferred over the red or blue lasers is the fact that people are just used to associating the laser’s beam with green. People just think that the typical color of a laser’s beam is green only.

 

More likely, the 50mW green laser pointers are not preferred over the others because of the beam’s color but because of their power. Like it was mentioned, there are less powerful but more powerful green laser pointers. The 50mW laser can be considered in the group of the ‘averagely’ powerful laser pointers. In fact, a 50mW laser can give some advantages over a high power green laser pointer.

 

For instance, averagely powerful lasers (such as the 50mW ones) are powerful enough to reach sky which makes it possible that they be used as astronomy green laser pointers also. Anyway, an astronomy green laser pointer is usually at least 250mW as it is considered the ‘minimum power’ needed for a really good astronomy laser.

 

However, the truth is that using a 50mW laser, no matter what the color of the beam is, is also a smart option because it provides the user with more safety. It is very well-known that the more powerful a laser pointer is, the more dangerous it is to the human health and the human eyes in particular. So it must be remembered that under no circumstances must a person direct a laser pointer, no matter how powerful it is, at another person’s eyes.

 

But the truly great thing about a 50mW green laser pointer is the fact that it can be used for many other things- during lectures, lessons, speeches, presentations, exhibitions and so on. The list is really endless! It is logical that a high power green laser pointer (a 250mW one for example) is not suitable for usage in rooms, museums etc. as that would be dangerous. Such lasers are meant only for outdoor activities and astronomy in particular. That sounds kind of restrictive which is not good for the users, especially if they will need the laser pointer for various activities, not just for pointing at objects in the sky.
